ArcGIS StoryMaps for Mapping Global China
Jennifer Rudolph, Professor, Department of Humanies and Arts
2024-2025
Project Description
Dr. Rudolph’s project created ArcGIS StoryMaps to visualize and make accessible data from the projects within the Mapping Global China website. The website, a collaboration with faculty at NYU Shanghai, collects data on Belt and Road Initiative projects and China’s other infrastructure and sustainability projects around the globe. Dr. Rudolph worked with Liam Jennings (BS CS, MS RBE, ’25) to develop an interactive ArcGIS StoryMaps that provides users a geographic view on the datasets available within this research platform.
About Mapping Global China
Mapping Global China aims to help people better understand China’s expanding role on the world stage by creating an open-access digital platform that integrates curated datasets, interactive maps, and advanced data visualization. By combining qualitative and quantitative data, the initiative enables scholars, policymakers, educators, and students to explore how China’s global engagements intersect with local contexts and impact global structures.
