Global Fellows Program
The Global Lab is delighted to invite applications for the Global Fellows Program for academic year 2021-22. The program allows WPI faculty (TRT or TT) to spend a term in residence at the Global Lab in the Innovation Studio, completing a research or creative project that advances the goals of the Lab and the fellow’s own professional goals as they relate to global engagement.
There are no limits to the shapes of these projects. We invite innovative thinking around the themes about which you are most passionate.

As part of the fellowship term, fellows will be invited to:
Keep an office space in the Innovation Studio for the term and engage in collaborative activities in the Innovation building
Focus on a project or initiative of their interest
Contribute to the creative and research directions of the Global Lab
Consult with Global Lab faculty and students about transmedia communication strategies
Utilize the media studios in the Global Lab
We are especially interested in projects that do one or more of the following:
Contain collaborative potential
such as if the project has a breadth of potential connection points (thematic, methodological, programmatic, etc.) such that others could readily see the relevance of the project to their own work.
Address compelling, timely themes
that are of importance to people and communities around the world, including within Worcester and at WPI.
Include general potential
for example, if the project is likely to stimulate further activity by supporting the fellow’s professional goals and the mission of the Lab beyond the fellowship term.
Advance action research/collaborative design pedagogies and practice
to expand the capacities of the WPI community to engage meaningfully with stakeholders, local and global. Examples include projects that support innovative ID2050 teaching, off-site project advising or global partnership building.
Explore modalities for communicating academic work
whether through a peer-reviewed publication, a performance piece, a new media technology, a pedagogical tool or anything in between and discover the project’s products (and process/methods) that could help advance thinking about how academic work is communicated and disseminated.
Apply for Fellowship
If you are interested in applying for a fellowship term, please complete the expression of interest form by November 2, 2020.
Finalists will be contacted to discuss their project ideas further.
We look forward to hearing from you as well as engaging with many of you at the Global Lab!
